Thomas Brooks –
founding partner
Mr. Brooks has more than 24 years of senior
management, entrepreneurial, medical device, and healthcare IT
experience with start-up and early stage companies. Prior to forming
HealthCare Capital Partners, Mr. Brooks was the President of Conor
MedSystems a company developing a new platform for slow controlled
release local drug delivery of a wide range of therapeutic agents.
During his two-year tenure, they raised over 27 million in three
rounds of venture funding. The company will launch its first product in
Europe, Q4 of 2004. They are also exploring
additional markets, including vulnerable plaque and other benign and
malignant conditions, where controlled drug release from a stent or
stent like devices would provide a therapeutic advantage.
Before Conor, he also managed a successful healthcare consulting
practice, The Cypress Group. While at The Cypress Group, he assisted
companies in conducting market research, developing sales and
marketing plans, recruiting key company personnel and advisors, and
securing financing from venture capital firms. In this role, Mr.
Brooks also served as an interim President for two venture backed
start-up companies.
Prior to The Cypress Group, Mr. Brooks was Vice President of
Business Development for Azygos, a B2B eHealth company focused on
the use of biometric identification solutions for data network and
personal identification security applications. In March of 2000,
Azygos was successfully sold.
Mr. Brooks also served as Vice President of Sales, Marketing and
Business Development from 1995 to 1999 for Novoste Corporation, a
start-up medical device company focused on interventional
cardiology. After Novoste went public in May of 1996, Mr. Brooks
helped it secure two additional rounds of funding prior to their
market launch in Europe in 1998.
Mr. Brooks also worked for Boston Scientific Corporation from 1986
to 1994 as the Manager of New Business Development. While at Boston
Scientific Corporation, he was involved in acquisitions of
technologies from many major academic institutions in the US.
In addition, he held various sales and sales management positions
for Ethicon Endo Surgery, a division of Johnson & Johnson.
Mr. Brooks earned his B.A. in Business Administration from Monmouth
University.

Bruce C Bishop – partner
Mr. Bishop is a partner with HealthCare Capital Partners and is a co-founder, where his main focus is in evaluating perspective companies’ financial potential.
Mr. Bishop has an extensive background in finance with a B.B.A. from the University of Georgia in Accounting.
Mr. Bishop most recently has worked for the financial consulting firm Stricklin & Co., for the past 23 years. Stricklin & Company is a financial consulting firm founded in 1970 to serve the needs of high net worth individuals, including investments, tax & estate planning and asset management. Stricklin & Company investments
cover a broad range from oil & gas exploration, single-family real estate development and technology. Majority of investments are either equity or convertible debt structure. Stricklin & Company’s investment focus for clients is based on a balance of risk and reward.
Mr. Bishop is currently serving on the board for: Output Exploration, LLC, an oil & gas exploration company in Stafford, TX; Fairgreen Capital, a real estate developer in Atlanta, GA; StatSignal Systems, Inc. a developer of automated meter reading equipment for the utility industry in Atlanta, GA.
Mr. Bishop adds great value to HealthCare Capital Partners and compliments the rest of the team.
